Sergio Lafuente (1° QUADS 4×2): “”At first the road was very fast but in the fourth part of the race it started to rain and it became very difficult to control the vehicle because it was very slippery. Then I had to sail a lot and I hesitated two or three times if he was in the right place. I went to Vest (Lopez) and when Cyril was catching me and I decided to hit quieter. I thought well that the organization has finished testing the safety of competitors. ”
Boris Garafulic (3° CARS): “”It was very complicated, like a pool. We turned 180° and 360° several times. I think if you go once out of the way, nothing can put you back. In the last part I had to come much more slowly than the beginning. We are just with one set of tires which are not for rain and that’s why the Toyotas have more traction than us.”
Cyril Despres (1° BIKES): “The mud and the rain don’t bother me, it’s the red ground that’s very compact. The water makes you slip and fall. During the last three of four Dakars I had fallen two times and today I fell four or five times because it’s impossible to ride, impossible”. “
Nani Roma (1° CARS): “It was a very hard and complicated stage because we don’t have the tires and the car prepared for this type of ground and mud. I think the organization of the race took the good decision to cancel after CP1 because some drivers were having a bad time.”
Orlando Terranova (2° CARS): “We started with a bunch of nerves because the floor didn’t look good, it was bad. We made a mistake on a left curve at the 70 kilometer. Nani (Roma) appeared and we did all the way to the end together. Cancel the stage was a wise decision because some drivers were having a bad time”.
Daniel Mazzuco (1° QUADS 4×4): “It was very difficult but I had fun, because the Canham is a 4×4 transmission, I and had no problems. The bikes suffered a lot. I started before (Javier) Pizzolito and Cacha, and they surpassed me at the 40 km, but when it started raining, I surpassed six motorcycles. I took care, at an easy pace because yesterday I broke the radiator and leaked water. Yesterday the boys repaired it but it still leak and I do not want to push hard because I did not want to break something else.”
Tadeusz Blazusiak (BIKE – Couldn’t finish the stage): “I lost control of the motorcycle on a wet curve. The fall was not so strong, and my left shoulder hurts me, so every shot that I receive hurts me too much. It was a positive experience. This bike is heavier than the enduro one, but the concept is the same: we must accelerate.”
Mauricio Gómez (1° BIKE – Best argentinean): “We demonstrated that it was no accident yesterday. Although today i’m surprised because I had three falls in the beginning, so I decided to reduce my speed a bit and go more slowly, even though I stayed well positioned. It seems that Javier Pizzolito accelerated a little more. We all know that is the number 1 in Argentina and that he is on another level, but I’m satisfied with myself. My goal for this competition is to be on the top ten, so be among the top five is a dream”
Omar Yoma (1° UTV): “It was a very hard stage but i love it because we crossed over very nice areas in the middle of the jungle over broken and muddy tracks. This is what I was hopping of this race and that’s why I enjoyed it a lot. I got wet and I felt very cold inside the UTV, but I arrived very happy because the car was fantastic. Now I will try to maintain the speed but taking care the UTV.
